Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their
important role in the lives of children, families and communities. Our students read
poems they wrote regarding “Red Ribbon Week” & Breast Cancer Awareness. Students
presented STEM projects they conducted. There were math performances, as well as, a
choral performance of a gospel medley, accompanied by, praise dance routines. Parent
were really excited about their children’s performances. We ended the evening with a
light dinner.

On Friday, October 25, 2019, we culminated “Red Ribbon Week”
activities with guest speaker, Master Deputy Garo Brown, of the A &
E Network show LivePD of Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Brown spoke with students about many issues facing our students
today. In his words of encouragement, he focused on, associations
(gangs), drugs & alcohol, social media, bullying, choosing friends
wisely, and stiff penalties in the eyes of the law. He inform students
whenever something is going on please find an adult and reach out to
them for help when needed.
